Pop-ups are small windows that appear on your computer screen while you’re browsing the web. They can appear for a variety of reasons, but most commonly they are used for advertising.

There are two main ways to allow pop-ups on a Mac, depending on whether you want them for all websites or just specific ones. Here’s how to do it in Safari, the default web browser on Mac:

Allow Pop-Ups for All Websites:

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click on “Safari” in the top left corner of the menu bar.
  3. Select “Preferences” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click on the “Websites” tab.
  5. In the left sidebar, look for “Pop-up Windows.”
  6. Click on the dropdown menu next to “When visiting other websites” and choose “Allow.”

Allow Pop-Ups for Specific Websites:

  1. Open Safari and navigate to the website where you want to allow pop-ups.
  2. Click on “Safari” in the top left corner of the menu bar.
  3. Select “Preferences” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click on the “Websites” tab.
  5. In the left sidebar, look for “Pop-up Windows.”
  6. You’ll see a list of websites you’ve visited in the main window. Find the website you want to allow pop-ups for.
  7. Click on the dropdown menu next to the website’s name and choose “Allow.”

Additional Notes:

  • By default, Safari blocks pop-up windows.
  • Allowing pop-ups can be a security risk, so it’s recommended to only enable them for trusted websites.
  • Some websites may still be able to display pop-up notifications even if pop-ups are blocked in Safari. These notifications typically appear at the top of the screen and can usually be dismissed by clicking a button.
  • Pop-up blockers are also available as extensions for Safari. These extensions can provide more granular control over pop-ups, allowing you to block them from specific websites or types of websites.
